NOTHING lasts FOREVER.
At seventy-six and a half, I've outlasted a LOT of people; some of whom I've known personally, and many others I've known of, greatly admired, and am saddened at their absence.
Not a bad run at all; could have been worse. :-)

But if you don't call the damned suicide line and talk to them, you're artificially cutting shit short, you hear me?!
I am TERRIFIED that they may be able to somehow COMPEL the loss of my BEST MEANS OF EXIT, with the result that when the money runs out, I lose ALL means of communication and get dumped onto the street; condemning me to a "living death" or a MISERABLE death.
The VA is more likely to do so because you don't call up the hotline.
Uh Oh!!! Gotta POSTPONE my demise until the Spring of 2019; 13 years after Deadwood was cancelled, a much discussed and hoped for two hour TV MOVIE (with MOST of the original cast) is due then. MUST keep my PRIORITIES straight!!! ;-)
A good, traditional choice.
THE gallows in my garden, people say,
Is new and neat and adequately tall.
I tie the noose on in a knowing way
As one that knots his necktie for a ball;
But just as all the neighbours -- on the wall --
Are drawing a long breath to shout 'Hurray!'
The strangest whim has seized me . . . After all
I think I will not hang myself today.
Tomorrow is the time I get my pay --
My uncle's sword is hanging in the hall --
I see a little cloud all pink and grey --
Perhaps the Rector's mother will not call --
I fancy that I heard from Mr Gall
That mushrooms could be cooked another way --
I never read the works of Juvenal --
I think I will not hang myself today.
The world will have another washing day;
The decadents decay; the pedants pall;
And H.G. Wells has found that children play,
And Bernard Shaw discovered that they squall;
Rationalists are growing rational --
And through thick woods one finds a stream astray,
So secret that the very sky seems small --
I think I will not hang myself today.
Envoi
Prince, I can hear the trumpet of Germinal,
The tumbrils toiling up the terrible way;
Even today your royal head may fall --
I think I will not hang myself today.
-G. K. Chesterton
G. K. Chesterton - I've been a Father Brown fan for a LONG time; and RARELY miss an episode of the series on PBS television; even if they often ARE pretty much the SAME story most of the time. ;-)
THANK you, Foxfier. :-)
I really enjoy the books/short stories.
Be OK, please.
